“I broke down because of all that. » This is a difficult testimony reported this Sunday by our colleagues from Parisian. That of Maxime, 14 years old, who attempted suicide, exhausted by the school harassment of which he had been the victim for several years. It was on November 17 that this schoolboy from Seine-et-Marne tried to end his life by hanging himself in his room. He will be saved in extremis by his 20-year-old sister who heard loud noises in her room. “Within a few seconds, I lost my son,” whispers Richard to our colleagues a week after the events.
Bullied since the start of middle school
Attended 3rd grade at the Jean-Jacques-Rousseau college in Othis, the young boy, who is still hospitalized, explains his action by the harassment he is the target of from five boys from his school. Two in particular would be more concerned, chasing him in the school bus, the playground and the canteen, repeating to him: “you are useless”. They also insult Maxime’s 17-year-old sister: “look at this bitch. Look at her breasts. Walk faster than it bounces. »
The teenager had already been the victim of bullying during his years of sixth and fifth grade. He was notably insulted by “PD”, explains The Parisian. His parents knew about it, but thought the ordeal was over. “It was only after his attempt that he said that it had never stopped and that the college had done nothing for him,” laments Aurélie, Maxime’s mother. A change of class was even requested during his fourth year but was refused.
Other college students harassed
Maxime would have, he said, kept silent because of a “blockage linked to shame”. Contacted by our colleagues, the Créteil rectorate confirmed a “conflict situation” in fifth grade and that “psychological monitoring had been put in place for discomfort”, which was stopped by the decision of the teenager. The rectorate still confirms being in touch with the family and doing “what is necessary to support Maxime’s return”.
The gendarmerie claims to take the matter very seriously. For their part, the teenager’s parents are awaiting sanctions, such as the mention “harassment” on school records. The mother even assures that the investigation uncovered the case of other schoolchildren harassed by these same students.
