The Mitchell against the machines (first planned under the title Disconnected), it’s a delightful mix of animated cinema, family comedy and science fiction. To fight against robots ready to destroy humans, mum and dad Mitchell team up with their geeky teenage daughter and her hyperactive brother. And we have a good laugh, especially during an absolutely irresistible Furby fluff attack.
“We were inspired by our own families,” explains Michael Rianda, co-director of the film with Jeff Rowe, to 20 minutes. I admit that I personally identify thoroughly with Kate, the heroine: I was just as annoying as she was when I was a teenager because I needed to assert myself. “Even if we are not keen on computers, we can all recognize ourselves in this little geekette that the filmmaker makes love so much she is lively, resourceful and passionate. Between this young lady addicted to technology and her parents, the shocks are as numerous as they are distressing. Not to mention that the Mochi dog, a cuddly pug, is also a success with his slobbering kisses.
A joyfully inclusive family
