The young man reported missing on Sunday at the leisure island (Cergy-Pontoise, Val-d’Oise) was found dead on Tuesday, according to information from the newspaper The Parisian. It was a police diver from the river brigade who discovered the body in the pond, near a buoy, around 8:30 p.m. The 21-year-old student was on the leisure island with two friends. He decided to swim to a buoy, and would have died on the way back, drowned due to fatigue.
Significant resources were deployed to find him: a crew of gendarmes from the Noyon river brigade searched the area with the help of sonar. Eight divers from Sdis 95 were also mobilized and about fifteen firefighters were present on site. The Cergy police were in charge of the investigation. The Folie pond, on the leisure island in Cergy-Pontoise, is not supervised and swimming is prohibited there.
