The day before, Islamist assassins had directed airplanes into the two towers of the World Trade Center in New York and into the Pentagon in Washington . 3000 people died. Now it has become known that a trail leads to Hamburg, to the Harburg district, where Mohammed Atta, one of the terrorists, lived in a shared apartment. The Interior Senator at the time had been in office less than four months, but switched immediately. He spent the night in the situation center at the police headquarters in Alsterdorf. The next morning he gave a press conference. Olaf Scholz entered the world stage for the first time.
