“What kind of mother are you!” Wilhelm (Max von der Groeben) shouts at his wife Helene (Mala Emde). Her baby, little Peter, is constantly crying, the war is raging outside and inside Helene is almost collapsing under the strain of motherhood, housework and the violence in her marriage. She has pressed a pillow into Peter’s face until she is seized by horror and screams loudly.
