The metro will run until 3 a.m. on Thursday to bring back the revelers

Enough to party almost until the end of the night. From September 2, and now every Thursday, the Toulouse metro will run non-stop until 3 a.m. This novelty was first announced for the fall of 2020 but the health crisis had played the spoiler.

Woven is therefore aiming for this re-entry. And more especially the start of the student year. “We must not forget that one in four Toulouse residents is a student and Thursday is their big day,” said Jean-Michel Lattes, president of Tisséo Collectivités.

Reorganization of maintenance

Since 2014, the Pink City metro is already playing extensions until 3 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, with increasing success with revelers (7,000 night-time travelers on average on line A on Saturdays and 9,000 on line B). But on these days, many students returned to their parents. So this Thursday tour is for them. And, technically, it is rather easy to set up. “The metro is automatic, the operator can inject trains depending on the number of people. We just had to reorganize the maintenance and the training which take place at night, limiting them from Sunday to Wednesday, ”specifies the boss of Tisséo. In addition, the Noctambus, less practical, returns definitively to the depot.

Is this all Covid? “Nothing is really Covid,” answers Jean-Michel Lattes. But going at night allows good physical distancing and all the usual sanitary measures are applied. We have chosen to be optimistic ”. This announcement also allows elected officials to give a boost to bars, restaurants and places of culture, to consolidate the recovery.
