Meta’s attempts in the metaverse will be “terribly wrong” because no one can figure out what the term actually means, according to Ethereum creator Vitalik Buterin.
In a Twitter post discussing what the metaverse will look like, he said the company’s ongoing project is unlikely. And he especially criticized Meta.
“We don’t really know the definition of ‘the metaverse’ yet, it’s too early to know what people really want,” Buterin said in a statement.tweet“So everything Facebook is building right now will go wrong.”
The metaverse is often described as the evolution of today’s internet. centered on a realistic 3D world. and an online community where people can interact with each other wearing VR and AR virtual reality headsets.
“The metaverse is going to happen,” Buterin continued, but I don’t think any existing organizational efforts to create the metaverse will achieve satisfactory results.”
Sandbox is currently one of the most popular Web3 Metaverse projects. With virtual land linked to NFT ownership, and Yuga Labs, which created the Bored Ape Yacht Club, is in the early stages of its own Metaverse game project, Otherside.
Meanwhile, Meta just revealed in its latest earnings report that Facebook Reality Labs (FRL), metaverse’s specialized division, lost $2.81 billion in the second quarter and last year it lost $10.2 billion in profits. Develop software, technology and content for the metaverse.
