A family story… The Sarreguemines prosecutor’s office (Moselle) has opened an investigation to verify the legality of the hiring at the town hall of Forbach of the spouse of the mayor LR of the city Alexandre Cassaro, the public prosecutor said on Tuesday. Oliver Glady.
The investigation, entrusted to the regional service of the judicial police (SRPJ) of Strasbourg, was opened in June after the report of a local association of taxpayers, specified the magistrate, confirming information from the site Street Press and the regional daily The Lorraine Republican.
The investigation “is open to verify the conditions of employment of the companion” of Mr. Cassaro, current director of communication for the town hall of Forbach, added Mr. Glady. “You have to do with the electoral code, it is he who provides for prohibitions in certain functions close to the elected official”, in order to determine if this hiring is legal, added Mr. Glady.
A comfortable salary
The two spouses have not yet been heard, according to the prosecutor. Asked by The Lorraine Republican, Mr. Cassaro explains that his companion was first his campaign manager during the municipal elections of 2020, before becoming his “collaborator” at the town hall. “Our relationship started after”, explains the elected official to the newspaper.
First director of cabinet in July 2020, she then became “director of communication because the law no longer authorizes” that, as a spouse, “she works in the cabinet” of the mayor, continues Mr. Cassaro, according to which everything is in accordance with the law.
According Street Pressthe director of communication receives a monthly salary of 5,650 euros gross, an amount that Mr. Cassaro has neither confirmed nor denied with the Lorraine Republican.
