“The Masked Singer – The Enigmatic Christmas Show”: Yvonne Catterfeld was the goose

A Christmas goose, a present and a reindeer dueled each other at the first holiday special on the ProSieben show “The Masked Singer”. Juror Rea Garvey stepped in again.

The Christmas goose not only escaped the stove at ProSieben, but also grabbed the trophy: In a costume with a big beak, a big belly and a colorful bobble hat, musician Yvonne Catterfeld won the festival special of the ProSieben show “The Masked Singer”. The 42-year-old was voted first by the audience on Sunday evening and prevailed against Ballermann icon Mickie Krause and presenter Steven Gätjen.

“I have such a respect for everyone who does this for six weeks,” said Catterfeld when she revealed her identity. Even the single evening was a challenge for her. In the special edition of the music advice program on Boxing Day, only three celebrities competed against each other and were all exposed on the same evening.

Krause had sung himself into the finals as an oversized gift with googly eyes, Gätjen landed in third place and therefore had to take off his reindeer mask as the first candidate. While the three celebrities sang Christmas hits like “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” and “Merry Christmas Everywhere”, a green grinch, a Christmas tree ball and a gingerbread house danced around them. Moderator Matthias Opdenhövel and comedian Bülent Ceylan hosted the Christmas show. In keeping with the ambience of the show, Ceylan slipped back into his angel costume, with which he had already appeared in the very first season of the format.

“The Masked Singer”: Yvonne Catterfeld wins as a goose

In the advice team, musician Rea Garvey and presenter Ruth Moschner had already committed themselves before the unveiling that Catterfeld would be under the mask. “I bet it’s one of the best singers in our country,” said Moschner. Actress Andrea Sawatzki had guessed the singer Sarah Connor.

With Ballermann singer Krause, Moschner and Sawatzki showed the right nose in advance. Only Garvey, according to his own statements, could not imagine a professional under the giant bow and behind the googly eyes and considered the masked celebrity an “example, for someone who is not known for singing”. Instead, the Irish musician threw the name of the “Tagesthemen” presenter Ingo Zamperoni into the ring. It wasn’t the first time Garvey was completely wrong on his tip. He also did not consider Vicky Leandros and Peter Kraus to be professional singers in previous “The Masked Singer” seasons.

Krause, who had become known with Ballermann hits such as “Ten Naked Hairdressers”, was amused by Garvey’s thoughts after his unveiling. Laughing, he said: “Rea said yes, I’m not a professional musician, you’re absolutely right. I’ve been with it for 23 years now, but I can get through this.” He liked to show himself from a different side musically, said the 51-year-old.

In “The Masked Singer” celebrities appear as singers, but hide their identities behind elaborate costumes. The fifth season recently ended, in which the former “Germany is looking for the superstar” winner Alexander Klaws triumphed – disguised as a garbage monster.
