In the second episode of the ProSieben show “The Masked Singer” the seagull was unmasked. Presenter Cherno Jobatey was under the bird costume. A member of the jury guessed correctly.

TV presenter Cherno Jobatey was revealed as a seagull on the ProSieben show “The Masked Singer”. The 56-year-old received the fewest audience votes in Cologne on Saturday evening and therefore had to take off his mask. The journalist was not sad about his departure: “I had a lot of fun,” said Jobatey. The most difficult thing was dancing on stage in the oversized seagull feet that belonged to his costume. “I have shoe size 49, but it was kind of a 78. We practiced like idiots.”

When he was asked to appear on the show, he said he thought it was a joke at first. “Thanks to the coaches who taught me to dance and sing here.” On Saturday evening he performed a version of “There’s a Party” (DJ Bobo) – with crooked tones, but obviously having fun with it.

The moderator became known, among other things, as the face of the morning magazine on ZDF. From 1998 to 2002 he also presented the ARD program “Do you understand fun?”.

Ruth Moschner correctly guessed Cherno Jobatey

From the guessing team, only Ruth Moschner correctly guessed Jobatey as the seagull. Rea Garvey, on the other hand, suspected another journalist under the mask and named Ingo Zamperoni. Giovanni Zarrella, who was in the studio as a guest adviser, decided on handball professional Pascal Hens before making the decision. The comedians Bastian Pastewka and Thomas Hermanns were also in conversation, as the seagull repeatedly made flat jokes.

Because of a Corona case among the candidates, the alien character called “Galax’Sis” was missing in this show. ProSieben announced that the mythical creature had contracted Covid-19 “despite full vaccination”. “I’m fine and I hope to be able to sing on stage again next week in the third show,” said “Galax’Sis”, according to the broadcaster’s announcement.

On the other hand, moderator Matthias Opdenhövel recovered and was back in the studio. The 51-year-old also had to stay at home last week because of a corona infection.

In “The Masked Singer” celebrities appear as singers, but hide their identities behind masks and elaborate costumes. Only her voice and a few hints give an idea of who could be on stage. The stars are unmasked as soon as they don’t get enough votes or end up winning.

After Jobatey’s departure, there are now eight candidates left in the race – including a glittering starfish, a disco ball and a koala on a tricycle. The show is currently in its sixth season.
