“The Masked Dancer” is in the starting blocks. Now it is clear which mask will dance next to fireflies, maximum power, monkey and mouse.

“The Masked Dancer” celebrates its premiere as “The Masked Singer” spin-off on January 6th (8:15 pm) on ProSieben. In four live shows, costumed celebrities will deliver dance instead of singing performances and a guessing team will have to unravel who could be hiding behind the masks. Five characters have already been determined, two secret masks will only be revealed in the first issue.

In addition to fireflies, maximum power, monkeys and mice, the colored pencil will also dance for victory. “He likes things colorful and puts a hot rubber on the floor,” explains ProSieben in a statement on Tuesday (January 4th). “His eraser sounds are legendary and once he starts he brings a lot of color to the stage.” For the colored pencil, the dance floor is “a canvas on which he creates a dance-like work of art with his finesse”.

The advice team is particularly looking forward to these masks

The guessing team – consisting of “The Masked Singer” winner Alexander Klaws (38) alias Mülli Müller, “The Masked Singer – The Enigmatic Christmas Show” participant Steven Gätjen (49) alias the reindeer and a female councilor – have to work on the contours and The stars’ movement patterns try to identify who could hide under the seven costumes.

Steven Gätjen was enthusiastic about the colored pencil at a press conference on Tuesday (January 4th). “I’ve always wanted an object, whether it was a washing machine or a toaster, now it’s become the pen.” The moderator is also hoping for an international representative behind one of the masks, since unlike “The Masked Singer”, no voice or language plays a role. “I would like Tom Holland as a monkey,” said Gätjen therefore. “The monkey already reminds me of my time as Tarzan,” said musical actor Alexander Klaws, impressed by the hairy participant. Internationally, he would like Charlize Theron (46) – “I’ve never met her, that would be a blast, I’m a big fan”.

Training takes place veiled

When preparing for the show, the celebrities, not all of whom are trained dancers, face a particular challenge. As broadcaster director Daniel Rosemann (41) reported at the press conference, the stars complete their training to protect identity in costumes. “The professional dance trainers don’t know who they are training with, everyone is hidden and veiled, it is a non-verbal communication so that there are not many more people who know.”

If the candidates in the opening show are “all well served with a dance”, the requirement increases from issue to issue, as with “Masked Singer”, explained Rosemann. “It’s a real dance competition and not just jumping around.” The fans are then spoiled for choice via the ProSieben app. There they can vote for their favorite masks live during the show and thus determine which star has to remove their mask at the end of the show.
