the mask is again compulsory in 20 municipalities of Drôme

It is now necessary to walk masked, outdoors, in the Drôme municipalities of more than 4,500 inhabitants. Faced with the multiplication of cases of Covid-19 at the national level, the prefect of Drôme reinforced this Wednesday, December 29, the departmental system in the fight against the pandemic.

Twenty communities are concerned by the new prefectural decree, from Valence to Die via Montélimar, Loriol-sur-Drôme or Chatuzange-le-Goubet. In these cities *, passers-by over the age of 11 risk a fine if they do not wear the mask in the street. This measure already concerned certain places such as open-air markets, the surroundings of nurseries and schools, meeting places or train stations.

Exceptions to the rule

The prefecture specifies that the obligation to wear a mask “does not concern people with disabilities who have a medical certificate justifying this exemption and who implement health measures to prevent the spread of the virus”. People who practice individual sports or ride a bicycle can also do without the protection on the mouth and nose. Finally, the measure does not apply to travel in a personal vehicle, “except in the case of carpooling or joint business travel”.

* The twenty municipalities are: Valence, Montélimar, Romans-sur-Isère, Bourg-lès-Valence, Pierrelatte, Bourg-de-Péage, Portes-lès-Valence, Saint-Paul-Trois-Châteaux, Livron-sur-Drôme, Crest, Chabeuil, Nyons, Loriol-sur-Drôme, Saint-Rambert-d’Albon, Saint-Marcel-lès-Valence, Tain-l’Hermitage, Donzère, Étoile-sur-Rhône, Chatuzange-le-Goubet and Die.
