the “Marathon pour Tous”, which will follow the same route as the Olympic marathon, will take place at night

20,000 runners will set off on August 10, 2024 from 9 p.m. from the forecourt of the Hôtel de Ville in Paris for a loop of 42.195 kilometers to the Esplanade des Invalides.

The “Marathon for All”, a running event for the general public organized on August 10, 2024, the same day as the Olympic event and on the same route, will be held at night, announced this Thursday the Paris 2024 Organizing Committee, in A press release. That “could in particular make it possible to reduce the impact of the temperature at this time of the year“, he specifies.

20,024 anonymous runners will start at 9 p.m. from the forecourt of the Hôtel de Ville in Paris for a loop of 42.195 kilometers to the Esplanade des Invalides. The race, open to everyone from the age of 20, will pass through eight other Ile-de-France municipalities (Boulogne-Billancourt, Sèvres, Ville-d’Avray, Versailles, Viroflay, Chaville, Meudon, Issy-les-Moulineaux). To encourage the runners, “athletes and Games ambassadors will take their place in each starting area“, say the organizers.

A 10km race at night also

In addition to this general public marathon, a shorter race format, 10 kilometers, will also be offered intramurally. The 20,024 participants will then leave from the Hôtel de Ville from 11:30 p.m., again arriving at the Invalides. This race will be open to everyone provided they are 16 years old by December 31, 2024, with a route accessible to “all people with disabilities, whatever the specific need (guide, use of a wheelchair, joëlette)“, specify the organizers on the Paris 2024 website.

To take part in these races, runners must win a bib by registering with Club Paris 2024 or on the “Marathon pour Tous” mobile application. 1,000 bibs will also be up for grabs on June 17, 2023, during the “Orange Night Run”, a team race organized in Paris by Orange, partner of the Games.
