His gesture aroused indignation even in the highest circles. The Minister for Citizenship, Marlène Schiappa, herself denounced “inadmissible facts”. The man who pushed a woman down the stairs of the Porte-de-la-Chapelle metro in Paris was expelled, the Paris police headquarters said on his Twitter account on Monday.

In the video, which quickly went viral on social networks, we see a woman slapping her arm before it pushes her violently into the metro entrance. According to the victim’s account, his attacker quickly got angry and uttered threats, before striking him in the shoulder.

The perpetrator, of Spanish nationality and “under an obligation to leave the territory”, was deported to Spain on May 2, said the prefecture. It is now “forbidden to enter and stay on French territory”.
