The lunar conference of the Nîmes Olympique coach

The fall of Nîmes Olympique seems endless. The National club (the third division), which was still playing in Ligue 1 in 2021, continues to experience grotesque situations.

This time, it is not a question of a new crisis between the supporters and the club, who are fighting each other through legal means. No more than the concerns of the president, Rani Assaf, whose ambitious real estate and commercial project (and with it that of the creation of a new stadium at Costières) has suffered a very serious setback. The CNAC, the national commercial development commission, issued an unfavorable opinion on this 250 million euro project. It included the demolition of the current Costières stadium and the construction of a new 15,000-capacity stadium. But also the creation of a luxury hotel, seventeen commercial structures in total and a neighborhood of a thousand inhabitants with all the amenities.

“It’s been two months since the air conditioning stopped working”

This time, it is the technical management which is coming to the front. Before the Epinal reception, coach Frédéric Bompard denounced the incredible training conditions his players experience on a daily basis. “I am a professional football coach (…) It’s been two months since the air conditioning stopped working. So we were hot and now we are cold. We haven’t had hot water for two weeks,” underlines the coach. “What interests me is that after we have had rain on our faces for an hour and a half, that my boys at least have hot water and when we arrive in the morning, that it Just have a little heat.”

Beaten at home by the red lantern Epinal (1-3), Friday, Nîmes occupies tenth place in the National championship.
