“The Lord of the Rings: The Companions” opened in theaters exactly twenty years ago. The stars around Orlando Bloom are now celebrating the anniversary.

Twenty years ago, too: On December 19, 2001, “The Companions” opened in cinemas around the world. The first film in the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy based on the cult novel by JRR Tolkien (1892-1973). The actors around Orlando Bloom (44) celebrate the anniversary on social media. Bloom posted on Instagram a picture of himself as Elven warrior Legolas with the text: “Twenty years ago they brought the hobbits to Isengard”.

Billy Boyd (53) and Dominic Monaghan (45) also spoke up for the anniversary. The cast of the hobbits Pippin and Merry have been close friends since filming. With their joint podcast “The Friendship Onion” they keep the memory of “The Lord of the Rings” alive all year round.

Celebrate with old pictures and a second breakfast

Dominic Monaghan posted a number of private snapshots with him, Boyd and Bloom from the time of the filming. There is also a picture below that shows the three of them in bed together. The colleagues look sleepily into the camera.

Buddy Billy Boyd, on the other hand, celebrated the anniversary on Instagram with a second breakfast, as befits hobbits.

Ian McKellen (82) also signed up for his 20th birthday. However, the Gandalf actor kept himself in the background. He posted a picture on Twitter the (then) young guard.
