The literary archive Monacensia acquires the estate of the poet SAID – Munich

The poet SAID had already dedicated his literary archive to the literary archive Monacensia during his lifetime. The Iranian-born writer (1947-2021) spent many decades in exile in Munich, where he also died. Now the Monacensia has acquired his literary estate. It is mostly digital and includes more than 5000 files, including unpublished texts; Versions for an autobiography (already published posthumously), five novels and 35 short prose texts. For the Monacensia, the estate is “forward-looking for the new collection concept, which takes into account writers and networks with positions and identities beyond the traditional canon,” says director Anke Buettner. SAID’s estate reflects his work in Munich and the networks of the Iranian diaspora and, together with the estate of the writer Cyrus Atabay, should be “one of the reference points for scientific research into exile Iranian reality”.
