The list of seven finalist novels revealed

There are still seven in the running. Seven authors who will try this Thursday to succeed Sabyl Ghoussoub who won the highly prized Prix Goncourt des lycéens last year for his novel Beirut-sur-Seine published by Stock. After weeks of diligent reading, the high school students delegates from each region have just revealed the names of the finalists among the 16 novels who were on the starting line for this 2023 vintage of Goncourt for high school students. Among them we find Jean-Baptiste Andrea, winner of the Goncourt with Watch over her (The Iconoclast), as well as Neige Sinno, awarded the Prix Femina for her novel on incest Sad Tiger (POL).

The five other writers in the running are Mokhtar Amoudi for The ideal conditions (Gallimard), Vincent Delecroix for Shipwreck (Gallimard), Emilie Frèche for The lovers of Lutetia (Albin Michel), Akira Mizubayashi for Unforgettable suite (Gallimard) and Léonor de Récondo for The big fire (Grasset). The name of the winner will be announced early Thursday afternoon from Rennes Town Hall as is tradition. The award ceremony will take place the same day, in the early evening, at the Ministry of National Education.
