This Monday morning in the Hautes-Alpes, a migrant was found dead on a road between Briançon and Montgenèvre, the Gap prosecutor told AFP on Tuesday.
It was a mountain bike cyclist who discovered the body on the Gondrans military road. This trail is accessible to hikers as well as all-terrain vehicles.
An open investigation to define the causes of death
Florent Crouhy, public prosecutor of Gap, told AFP that the death of this young adult seemed “fairly recent” and that “the body bore no trace of violence or struggle”.
On Monday, criminal identification technicians went to the scene to take DNA samples and analyzes in order to identify the victim.
“An autopsy will be performed in the coming days,” said the prosecutor, who opened an “investigation into the causes of death”, entrusted to the Briançon research brigade.
