The investigations into Rachida Dati are over

The parties are now awaiting requisitions from the National Financial Prosecutor’s Office (PNF) and the decision of the investigating judge whether or not to order a trial. This is the next step after the completion of investigations into the investigation into contracts entered into by a subsidiary of Renault-Nissan, when Carlos Ghosn was the CEO, with in particular Rachida Dati.

The magistrate sent the notice of end of judicial information to the parties on September 12, according to a judicial source. The parties’ lawyers can now submit their observations.

No confrontation between Dati and Ghosn

In this judicial investigation opened in July 2019, Rachida Dati, LR mayor of the 7th arrondissement and former Minister of Justice, has been indicted since July 2021 for “corruption and passive influence peddling by a person invested with a public elective mandate”.

The suspicions relate to the 900,000 euros paid to her between 2010 and 2012 by RNBV, the Dutch subsidiary of the Renault-Nissan alliance, while she was a lawyer and MEP. The investigations sought to determine whether his fees corresponded to specific activities or whether it was a job of convenience that could have masked lobbying in the European Parliament, prohibited for MEPs.

“Rachida Dati does not understand that the two investigating judges can consider their investigations completed” when she “is deprived of the most basic legitimate right to be confronted” with Carlos Ghosn, her lawyer reacted to AFP, Mr. Olivier Baratelli. The mayor of the 7th arrondissement of Paris, who disputes the accusations, demands that “this confrontation must take place”, he insisted.
