The Interior wants to initiate proceedings against 179 students who disrupted the tribute to Dominique Bernard

The tributes, Monday, paid to teachers Dominique Bernard, killed in Arras on Friday and to Samuel Paty, killed three years earlier, were punctuated by unrest, announced the Interior. “In almost all cases, this moment of contemplation (…) took place with the deepest dignity and the greatest respect,” said the ministry. But 179 students made another choice, that of disrupting this meditation, and of provoking the school and insulting the memory of our teachers.”

It is therefore “179 referrals to the public prosecutor who are leaving today [mardi] to initiate proceedings against these students, 179 disciplinary procedures which also leave. And for the most serious cases, several dozen of them, which concern the apology of terrorism, I am ordering today the exclusion of these students pending disciplinary procedures,” continued Place Beauvau.

The tribute to Samuel Paty had generated 400 incidents

Among the incidents noted, a student threatened to “plant a bomb”, two were delighted that a “teacher was dead”, two others “simulated weapons fire”, according to the minister’s entourage.

National Education had identified “400 violations” during the minute of silence organized in November 2020 for professor Samuel Paty, assassinated on October 16, 2020 by a radicalized young person, according to figures communicated by the then minister Jean-Michel Blanquer .
