For several days, Toulouse high school students have been demonstrating against the arrangements adopted to organize the bac in the midst of a health crisis. But this Wednesday morning, the erection of a barricade, made of barriers and garbage cans, in front of the Berthelot high school, in the Saint-Michel district, resulted in a police intervention.

The management of the establishment had this time decided to push back the obstacles that hampered the entrance. The demonstrators opposed it and the standoff escalated into a stampede in which three adults were lightly injured.

Faced with the turn of events, the principal alerted the police. The police arrested around 8 am an 18-year-old student, designated by witnesses for his virulence. His placement in police custody caused a stir among the union ranks.

Union protests

“It is unbearable to see the power shedding crocodile tears on our suffering youth and at the same time mistreating it in this way”, reacted in particular the CGT, whose young girl is an activist, calling, with the FSU and the ‘Union nationale lycéenne (UNL), at a protest demonstration in front of the central police station.

The student was finally released around 3 p.m. after three complaints were filed. “The investigations are continuing”, specifies a police source in particular for violence in assembly on a person charged with a mission of public service.
