the host Stéphane Plaza heard by the police

The M6 host, targeted by a preliminary investigation by the Paris prosecutor’s office for domestic violence, was questioned by the police this Tuesday, March 12.

The flagship host of M6, Stéphane Plaza, is interviewed by the police this Tuesday March 12 as part of the preliminary investigation by the Paris prosecutor’s office into the domestic violence to which he is the subject. He could be taken into custody.

Earlier, the host posted a message on Instagram. Without revealing that he was going before the investigators, he was pleased to be able to “express himself for the first time”. “This fleeting moment will soon only be a distant memory,” he also said.

In a press release, Stéphane Plaza’s lawyers confirm this summons by the police, “in order to be able to answer all the questions that arise and to be able to establish that the accusations against him are completely unfounded”, they write.

As revealed by Médiapart in September 2023, three former partners accuse Stéohane Plaza of mistreatment, more precisely “humiliation, threats, verbal violence and, for two of them, physical mistreatment”.

One of them confided having had three fingers broken by the host during an argument. Another claimed to have filed a handrail in September 2022 after having also suffered violence.

Story of three former companions

The main complainant, Jade*, explained that she began a relationship with him in 2017 when she was looking for work in the styling field. Punctuated by ups and downs, their relationship lasted several years before he became truly violent.

During her hearing before the police, which BFMTV was able to learn about, she recalled an event that occurred on April 25, 2022. In the middle of a crisis, Stéphane Plaza allegedly assaulted her, breaking one of her fingers and dislocating two others. Still according to his account, he would have pressed her against a wall by placing an arm under her throat. He then apologized via text message as she explained to investigators.

But at the same time, he seemed to have fun with the situation with some of those close to him. Jade says that, shortly after the events, he arrived with her on a film set saying: “Did you see the strength I have?! It was me who did that to her!”, while the young woman had her hand in a splint.

“Very aggressive”

According to our information, Jade went to the medical-judicial units last December where a doctor gave her a total incapacity for work for ten days, in particular because of the “psychological repercussions” of this event.

The police also heard Eva* who described acts of “moral harassment” against the host. She filed a complaint in which she claims to have been bitten twice, outside of any particular context. “He was sometimes very aggressive,” she testified in the columns of Mediapart.

Finally Julia* also described the threatening and violent behavior of Stéphane Plaza, saying in particular that he had threatened her one day in a restaurant with a fork while she questioned him about his infidelity.

Internal investigations at M6

The figure of the show Apartment Hunters since 2015 has refuted these accusations. He explained that he was the target of a cabal from these three women who, according to him, could not bear the breakup. Last December, he assured “to have a clear conscience” and asked to wait “for justice to be done to clear [son] honor”.

His lawyers had also denounced “defamatory and insulting accusations” during the first accusations published in the press.

Internal investigations had been carried out within the M6 group. Investigations which “did not provide any element which would justify a sanction against Stéphane Plaza” assured at the beginning of November on the BFM Business set Nicolas de Tavernost, chairman of the board of directors of the M6 group.
