The Hoover stick vacuum cleaner is full of tips that make the difference with its competitors

Who says end-of-year celebrations means meals, guests, dishes and… cleaning! Always ready to pounce on the crumbs of sweets and logs, without forgetting the New Year’s confetti, cordless stick vacuum cleaners have no equivalent for going on a mission at any time. Among them, the new HFX Hoover stands out from most models on the market due to its increased versatility. A gift to clear things up after the festivities? To ensure this, 20 minutes already tested it.

3.71 kg or 2 kg depending on use

By far, it’s a classic cordless stick vacuum cleaner. Up close, the HFX reveals itself in all its aspects. And surprises. First, it stands up on its own. In manufacturers’ jargon, this is what we call a “parking” position. This is an undeniable advantage that others, like Dyson vacuum cleaners for example, do not offer, and which greatly facilitates their use.

Next, the HFX offers a removable battery and motor unit. Interest ? Regarding the battery, it is clear: being able to have an additional battery allows you to clean for longer. For the motor unit, the advantage here is that it can transform the HFX into either a stick vacuum cleaner or a table vacuum cleaner by plugging it into a suitable and supplied collector. The first will be used for the floors. The second (smaller) can be used to clean sofas, shelves, etc. with different accessories. But also more flexibility and less weight at the end of the arm. Thus, the device is a clever two-in-one: stick vacuum cleaner on the one hand (3.71 kg with its main brush); hand – or table – vacuum cleaner, on the other hand (2 kg).

Corner Genie, the brilliant brush

But where Hoover really pushed innovation is not visible to the naked eye. To discover the secret trick of your HFX, you must detach the main brush of the vacuum cleaner with the tip of your toe so that what its manufacturer calls the Corner Genie appears.

Quesaco? A tiny brush for vacuuming in corners or hard-to-reach areas, those where the big brush will never be able to venture. And it’s smart. Constantly becoming one with the machine (no need to mess with accessories), available at any time, this Corner Genie brush is articulated 360°.

Two vacuum cleaners in one

When tested, the HFX appears to be perfectly thought out. So, we will use it in two stages. To clean on chairs, furniture, shelves, vacuum the sofa first, using the small collector. For this, there is a mini motorized brush with LED lighting on the front, a two-in-one brush for vacuuming a staircase, a table or a desk, for example. But also a very long nozzle (yes, that’s what we call this accessory!). Measuring 60 cm, this one has the good idea of being flexible. A real masterstroke from Hoover to access the ceilings, behind a piece of furniture, between the refrigerator and the stove…

Once these preliminaries to any good cleaning are completed, the HFX will then be used to clean all floors, alternating between the main brush and the Corner Genie brush. The practicality and efficiency are there. However, we regret that this brush head does not have a better glide. Very flexible when used from front to back, it grips hard floors better when moving from left to right. You must therefore remember to always present it facing the surface to be cleaned by rotating the wrist holding the HFX.

Answer usage questions

Equipped with a 385 W motor and a suction power of 64 AW (Air Watts) in Standard mode (which is good data), the Hoover vacuum cleaner is very pleasant to use and easy to use. great efficiency, as we observed.

Its autonomy is around 30 minutes in standard mode (10 minutes in Turbo mode), a duration that can be controlled in real time on the machine’s screen, which is a plus.

In addition to its inventiveness, we were also pleasantly surprised by the manufacturing quality of the product which seems ready to withstand time. Moreover, it is guaranteed for 5 years, which is quite attractive. Let us point out that its packaging does not contain the slightest unnecessary plastic, all the parts being wrapped in paper bags…

We thus feel that with this model sold from 499 euros, the manufacturer has tried to answer real questions of use and to put itself in the user’s place. User who will also be surprised to discover yet another tip when storing the machine.

At the press of a button, the vacuum cleaner folds in half, reducing its height by almost half (65 cm instead of 112 cm), and revealing a small carrying handle. For their part, the accessories can be stored in a net provided in the box. Yes, it’s quite stupid, except that no one offers it…

Once its cleaning is finished, the HFX collector is emptied into a trash can like most of its competitors. If you can, we advise you to carry out this operation outdoors, as dust always flutters around on this occasion. And on this point, unfortunately, Hoover has not yet managed to reinvent the wheel…
