the highway still inaccessible, up to 370 kilometers of traffic jams during rush hour

Hervé Morin, president of the Normandy region, calls for free access to the A14

The closure of the A13 also penalizes Norman drivers. For these reasons, Hervé Morin, president of the Normandy region, asks X for the A14 to be free “as long as the A13 is not reopened”.

Yesterday, Valérie Pécresse, president of the Île-de-France region, also asked for the A14 to be free “to guarantee access to Paris for everyone during the work”.

“I doubled my travel time”: delays on secondary roads

If some motorists found the situation better than expected on the roads this morning, others confided to BFM Paris Île-de-France about their difficulty in traffic jams faced with the massive arrival of people usually taking the A13.

“I have doubled my travel time, I should have already arrived at work,” confided one of them in the morning.

10 a.m.: peak traffic jams past, return to normal on the roads

The situation is becoming calmer again on the roads of Île-de-France. While the total number of traffic jams remains above the usual average, the peak traffic jam seems to have increased to 10 hours.

Traffic jams even fell below the 200 kilometer mark shortly before 10 a.m. Sytadin identifies 198km of traffic jams, a usual situation at the moment in the region.

A reopening of the A13 “within the week”, hopes the mayor of Chesnay-Rocquencourt

Good news for road users? Richard Delepierre, Modem mayor of Chesnay-Rocquencourt, wants to be “cautious”, but optimistic this morning on BFM Paris Île-de-France.

If the latter says he is happy that the buses were able to run and thus “the return of the students goes as normally as possible”. He even hopes for a reopening of the A13 in the coming days.

“If we are optimistic we are talking about a reopening of the A13 within the week, I remain cautious for the moment,” explains the elected official.

8:30 a.m.: more than 370 kilometers of traffic jams in the region

The curve of Sytadin continues to climb, while more than 370 kilometers of traffic jams have been recorded since 8:30 a.m.

From a few hours to several months of work

A ground movement is responsible for the crack on the A13, a situation update will be made today at the end of the day while no reopening date has yet been announced.

“We probably have a phenomenon of swelling and compression of the clays which leads to landslides,” explains Cyrille Hanappe, architect and engineer, on our channel.

For Christelle Combescure, lecturer in mechanics at the Saint-Cyr Coëtquidan military academy, we must now “ensure that the crack that has appeared is not evolving and that it is not going to ‘to get worse”.

If this is the case, repair of the damaged area can be done “fairly quickly”. Otherwise, especially if the ground is unstable, several weeks or even months could be necessary.

The 300 kilometers of traffic jams exceeded

Things get complicated on the roads. The Sytadin network now indicates that more than 300 kilometers of traffic jams have accumulated on the roads of Île-de-France.

A situation that is now “unusual” compared to a normal day at 8 a.m.

Traffic jams are piling up, with more than 300km recorded in Île-de-France this Monday March 22 at 8 a.m.

Several alternative routes to bypass the A13

BFM Paris Île-de-Frane takes stock of the alternative routes to take to avoid the A13 this morning.

More than 220 kilometers of traffic jams in Île-de-France

The 200 kilometer mark of traffic jams was exceeded around 7:30 a.m. this morning, according to the roads department. Sytadin.

The traffic, heavier than average, remains rather usual compared to a normal day on the region’s roads.

“I expected much worse than that”

After the end of the school holidays for Parisians, the road back to school or work promises to be longer than usual this Monday.

At Haras de Jardy, the last possible exit towards Versailles and then to Paris, some motorists see the glass as half full. “It’s a little less complicated than expected, I think the authorities have planned things well,” said Jean-Rémy on BFMTV.

“Nevertheless, it’s starting to pick up a bit behind me. I expected much worse than that, it’s not too bad,” puts the motorist into perspective.

The latter, on the other hand, says he fears “quite complicated” days ahead if the blockage of the A13 continues.

Alternative routes already saturated?

On Boulevard de la République in Vaucresson, hundreds of vehicles are already accumulating on the roads of the town this Monday morning, as BFM Paris Île-de-France can see.

A few hundred meters from the entrance to the A13, closed due to works, the cars begin to slow down behind the traffic lights.

On this route to Paris, road users will pass through Saint-Cloud or Boulogne-Billancourt before arriving in the capital.

“I go to work every day and the A13 is my favorite route. I left a bit earlier than usual, (…) there are people and not everyone can do the teleworking”, explains a motorist on our antenna.

For now, traffic jams remain “usual” according to the Sytadin roads service, while rush hour has not yet reached. Other alternative routes exist via the A12, the N12 near Rocquencourt or the N118.

Ile-de-France residents called to favor public transport

Teleworking and public transport… Faced with the closure of part of the A13 between Paris and Vaucresson, the authorities are calling on Ile-de-France residents to avoid using secondary roads as much as possible.

Valérie Pécresse, president of Île-de-France Mobilités, expressed her commitment to avoid any network congestion on the roads, in particular by strengthening the Transiliens.

An update “at the end of the day” on Monday

In a publication on situation” will be carried out on Monday “on the follow-up to be given”.

In a press release, the prefect of Yvelines specified on Sunday that this update will be carried out “at the end of the day”.

Several days of trouble on the roads?

Scheduled for this Monday at the earliest, the reopening of the axis could in reality take several more days.

The situation may still evolve and the opening of the motorway may be delayed. “A reopening of the A13 could be considered during next week,” the prefect warned on Friday.

Contacted by BFM Paris Île-de-France, Jacques Salhi, director of Île-de-France roads and road manager of the national road network, assures that the portion of the motorway concerned will not be reopened “before Wednesday or Thursday at the earliest.

A “transverse crack”

The A13 motorway was urgently closed under orders from the competent authorities while a “transverse crack in the Saint-Cloud sector was observed”, explained the prefect of Hauts-de-Seine.
