The Hérault prefecture denounces the sabotage of an electricity cooperative

The prefect of Hérault, Hugues Moutouh, denounces this Tuesday morning, in a press release, an “irresponsible sabotage action against two transformers of the electricity cooperative, located in the town of Saint-Martin-de-Londres”.

According to the services of the prefecture, “a break-in took place last night, around 3:30 am”, on this site. “Two transformers were deliberately damaged by fire generating a temporary power outage in nearly 15 municipalities, impacting around 8,000 homes. Load shedding measures were quickly put in place to restore electricity to the area. »

Teams from the cooperative are currently mobilized to carry out repairs “as soon as possible”. State services attribute these facts to demonstrations against the pension reform. “If the right to strike is a constitutional freedom, the prefect of Hérault recalls that the destruction, degradation or deterioration of property constitutes an offense”, indicates the prefecture, this Tuesday morning.
