The Greeks and their Bavarian King – Bavaria

The insignia of the ruler Otto of Greece have surprisingly turned up in a summer residence near Athens. The son of King Ludwig I, who came from the House of Wittelsbach, had reigned in Greece for 30 turbulent years until he was chased back home in 1862.

The Tatói estate, which served the Greek royal family as a summer residence until 1974, rests in the foothills of mountain forests a good 30 kilometers north of Athens.
