The government wants to accelerate the expulsion of 193 radicalized foreigners in an irregular situation

The Arras knife attack led to a controversy over expulsions, the attacker being in an irregular situation on French territory. A security meeting was organized at the Elysée this Monday. At the end of this, the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin announced that the government wanted to accelerate the expulsion of 193 radicalized foreigners in an irregular situation.

Of these 193 registered in the file of radicalized people (FSPRT), 85 “are undoubtedly no longer on the territory”, noted the minister’s entourage, specifying that a “case-by-case verification” had been requested on these people. In total, the situation of 2,852 regular foreigners registered with the FSPRT will be re-examined, said the minister’s entourage.

More than 100 arrests for anti-Semitic acts or advocating terrorism

In total, 20,120 people are registered with the FSPRT, including 4,263 foreigners in a regular or irregular situation, the same source said. Since 2015, 922 people registered with the FSPRT have been expelled, according to the government. Gérald Darmanin also announced Monday that 102 people had been arrested for anti-Semitic acts or those promoting terrorism since the Hamas attacks against Israel on October 7.

“This morning again, the DGSI [direction générale de la sécurité intérieure] carried out two arrests, one in the east of France, the other in the south-west of France,” the Minister of the Interior further indicated. Among the 102 arrested, 27 are “foreigners” said the minister and 11 are “currently in an administrative detention center or in prison”. I “requested the systematic withdrawal of residence permits for those who were legally on the national territory,” he added. According to Gérald Darmanin, 237 reports on the Pharos online platform were sent to the courts.
