Actor James Caan has died at the age of 82. This was just announced on his Twitter account.

“It is with great sadness that we inform you that Jimmy passed away on the evening of July 6th. The family thanks you for the many expressions of love and heartfelt condolences and asks you to respect your privacy at this difficult time.”

His other works include the thriller “Misery” with Cathy Bates (74) based on the book by Stephen King (74) or the sweet Christmas comedy “Elf” with comedy star Will Ferrell (54).

Caan was born in the Bronx, New York, the son of Jewish immigrants from Germany. His father was a butcher.

In the wild ’70s and ’80s, the party-loving Caan was an integral part of the Playboy Mansion. He has five children, including Scott Caan (45), who is an actor himself (“Hawaii Five-0”).
