The investigations carried out by the gendarmes are clear. According to the Lorient prosecutor’s office, no third party intervened at the home of a retired couple from Cléguer (Morbihan). On Saturday December 31, the gendarmerie discovered two dead bodies in this house inhabited by a 91-year-old man and his 88-year-old wife. “The autopsies of the two victims were carried out on January 2, 2023, confirming a plurality of stab wounds”, specifies the public prosecutor Stéphane Kellenberger. The victims’ daughter was also present at the home. Injured, she was taken to hospital. Three days after the events, the scenario of the double homicide becomes clearer. The couple’s daughter is the main suspect in the fatal blows.
Aged 63, the latter was present at the couple’s home at the time of death. It was she who took care of her parents on this last day of 2022. “In a context linked to age and illness, it appeared that the children took turns at the bedside of their parents”. When the gendarmes arrived, the girl was discovered “with injuries suggesting a possible suicide attempt”. Stabbed several times, the two members of the couple were already dead.
The planned assassination trail
Was this double murder premeditated? This is what the Lorient prosecutor’s office suggests, which has opened an investigation for assassination. “A judicial investigation will be opened as soon as possible, in particular depending on the state of health of the person likely to be implicated”, specifies the public prosecutor. The respondent left the emergency medicine service to be transferred to a specialized institution. The investigation was entrusted to the gendarmerie research brigade of Lorient.
