The German rail service will be much more expensive than expected – economy

The railways and the Ministry of Transport are planning a revolution on rails by 2030: a new cycle system and the end of the timetable. An expert opinion now shows that this costs more than 48 billion euros – significantly more than the railway should get for such expenses.

Anyone who travels by train knows the problem. If you travel from A to B, it is better to arm yourself beforehand with the departure times of the train: 11:06, 11:27, 11:50. The confusing timetable does not make it easy for frequent travelers to maintain an overview. But that should change according to plans by politics and the railways by the end of the decade. The solution for easier travel has a cumbersome name: Deutschland-Takt.
