“The German final 2024”
These musicians will compete in the ESC preliminary round

The German ESC preliminary decision is coming up in less than a month. Eight of the nine participating acts have now been revealed.
Germany is currently diligently searching for its act in the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest, the final of which will take place on May 11th in Malmö, Sweden. For the ESC preliminary decision “The German Final 2024”. Eight of the nine acts have now been announced. Out of almost 700 applications, the NDR ESC editorial team chose, among others, Max Mutzke (42), who showmaster Stefan Raab (57) discovered exactly 20 years ago as part of his show “TV total”.
Mutzke is a repeat ESC offender. In the same year of his breakthrough, he prevailed in the preliminary round and represented Germany in Istanbul, where he ultimately finished eighth with his hit “Can’t Wait Until Tonight”. He is entering the race for 2024 with his song “Forever Strong” and promises: “I just want to use this momentum to come back after exactly 20 years.”
Meanwhile, Marie Reim (23), the daughter of a successful former musician couple, is competing: the child of pop star Michelle (51) and “Damn, I love you” singer Matthias Reim (66) wants to score points with her song “Naiv”. – and can get valuable tips from her mother: Michelle competed in Copenhagen in 2001 and, like Mutzke, achieved eighth place. Marie Reim’s plans: “I think Schlager is a perfect fit for the ESC. I’m ready to show people that Schlager can be likeable, fresh and a bit sexy in this competition.”

The other six fixed acts are the band Galant (“Katze”), singer-songwriter Isaak (“Always on the run”), the singer Leona (“Undream You”) and Bodine Monet (“Tears like rain”) as well as the singers NinetyNine (“Love on a Boat”) and Ryk (“Oh Boy”). The ninth place still outstanding for the preliminary decision will be taken on February 8th (from 10:00 p.m., Das Erste) as part of the event “I want to go to the ESC!” determined. 15 artists are taking part.
The show “Eurovision Song Contest – the German Finale 2024”, in which the final German entry for the ESC 2024 will be determined, will take place on February 16th (from 10:05 p.m., Das Erste).
