“The Geissens”: Have you coped with the cozy separation?

In the new season “Die Geissens” the moving out of the daughters Davina and Shania is discussed. How is the family doing with that?

From January 3rd (every Monday, 8:15 p.m. on RTLzwei) one of the most famous TV families in Germany will return: Carmen (56) and Robert Geiss (57) give their two daughters in “Die Geissens – A terribly glamorous family” Davina (18) and Shania (17) already in the 20th season glimpses of their luxurious life.

In an interview with the news agency spot on news, the TV family tells which travel destinations they have headed to this time and which big changes were on the agenda for the four of them in their everyday lives. In addition, Robert and Carmen Geiss explain what they think of their daughters now getting their own TV format.

You are in the US for the upcoming season “Die Geissens”. Where do you particularly like it there and why?

Carmen Geiss: We particularly enjoy being in Miami. The sun shines there all year round and we are particularly interested in the art scene there. The city also hosts Art Basel in Miami, the perfect place for Shania to delve deeper into the world of art.

Robert Geiss: In addition, life takes place a lot or often by the sea. We have already been there with the Indigo Star and that was really awesome. Whether relaxing on the beach or on the yacht or crazy water sports activities. Just the thing for us!

You can also go to Dubai, South Tyrol and the Dominican Republic. How do you choose your goals?

Robert: It’s actually quite simple – we have a lot to do and follow our daily business with the camera. In Dubai we have many friends and business partners and are still looking for suitable properties. That’s why we’re there often. We are also regularly in South Tyrol, where we will put our sporting skills to the test in the new episodes. I hope the spectators enjoy our Geiss biathlon (grins).

Carmen: Yes, and after all the stress, the Geissens also need a break. We indulged ourselves on a vacation in the Dom-Rep.

What will viewers get to see on your trips this time?

Carmen: First of all, you get to see very fresh episodes from the USA. We really just shot it and were on the road in New York and Miami for it.

Robert: Besides, Carmen and I are not giving up and are still looking for real estate in Dubai. We love the mega-city in the desert and are sure that we will still find a suitable property for us there.

Davina: And don’t forget that Shania and I are moving out.

Carmen: Oh yes, that is a very emotional moment for me as a mom when my two girls fledge and leave the nest.

How was the farewell?

Carmen: Oh, that was difficult for me and one or two crocodile tears flowed – especially for me. I mean these are my two little girls. They only went to school and now they’re big enough to move out! But that’s all good as it is. The two of them also need their own thing and have to learn to cope on their own.

Robert: The two of them always know where to ring if something is wrong. And Papa-Robert wouldn’t be Papa-Robert if he didn’t always keep an eye on his daughters while on the road or from our apartment.

And how does one live so separately?

Shania: I can answer that question very easily (grins). We get along very well. It’s a little less stressful because nobody tells us what to do and when.

Carmen: But when I come by unannounced, it’s always very neat with Davina and Shania. I think Robert and I did some good preparatory work and it helped when we warned them to tidy their rooms.

It is already their 20th season “Die Geissens”. Would you have thought you’d be on TV for that long?

Carmen: Never! We are so grateful for every TV year and every subsequent season.

Robert: Here in Monaco we just live very anonymously. Sure, everyone knows each other, but we’re not “Die Geissens” from television here.

Davina: Some of our clique do not even know that we have a show. There we are just Shania and Davina.

When would the point have come for you when you no longer want the TV cameras to accompany you?

Robert: Definitely – after 1 p.m. when it’s time for my lunch break and lunch is already overdue!

Carmen: Well, in general “Die Geissens” is a docu-soap and shows our lives. We have already given our viewers a lot of insights and we are very happy to do that for our fans. So we let the audience take part in our adventures for as long as they want to see us.

Robert: So don’t worry, we’ll continue in the future (laughs).

Shania and Davina should now also get their own format. How do you feel as parents and what do viewers get to see?

Robert: Of course we are incredibly proud of it. At the end of the day Davina and Shania experience so many exciting things with us, or alone, other teenagers can often only dream of. I think our fans will enjoy Davina’s and Shania’s show.

Carmen: Robert, it occurs to me: We have to negotiate with our daughters whether we can get a guest appearance (laughs).

What do you wish for Davina and Shania in the future?

Carmen: A successful graduation from school, a high-rated own show, health, happiness and satisfaction and I wish for nice sons-in-law. But all in good time!

Robert: But first the sons-in-law audition for me. I’ll take a closer look at them first.
