The Gare du Sud food court postpones its reopening

The Nice restaurant space at the Gare du Sud, which has gone from disappointment to disappointment since its inauguration in 2019, was to be reborn this Monday evening with a new concept. But we will finally have to wait another week to discover “Mediterraneo”. The new manager, the group of Renato Iera, founder of the IT restaurants (Italian trattoria), indicates that he is encountering “technical problems”.

“Independent of our will”

“We are obliged to postpone the opening to Monday July 17, at 6 p.m. Indeed, technical problems, beyond our control, prevent us from opening in good conditions for the public, and force us to this postponement”, indicated the communication officer of the signwithout further details.

A new blow for the only food court in Nice built under the metal frame of the old Provence railway station. Affected by the confinements, by strikes by restaurateurs in the face of too high rents, the Gare du Sud had been affected by the placement in judicial liquidation of a company already responsible, in 2021, for revitalizing it. In April 2022, the town hall even closed it for “hygiene reasons”.
