Two separate investigations opened
The drama had begun in the night from Saturday to Sunday: this man already condemned four times for domestic violence on his ex-partner, mother of his three children, presents himself at the residence of the latter. He commits violence on it and shoots his new companion, without reaching him, according to the gendarmerie. Then he took refuge in a wooded area of 4 km 2 in the Lardin-Saint-Lazare sector. Contact was established on several occasions with the young man, but several times resulted in shots being fired by the individual, in the direction of the gendarmes. It even hits a gendarmerie helicopter.
Sunday evening, the Perigueux prosecutor, Solène Belaouar, announced the opening of two separate investigations, one for violence on her ex-partner and attempted homicide on the man who was with her and on whom he shot without reaching it; the other for attempted homicide on persons holding public authority, that is to say the gendarmes.
Already sentenced four times for domestic violence
The young man had already been sentenced four times for domestic violence, on his ex-partner. His first conviction for violence against a spouse was decided by the court of Bergerac which imposed on him on March 17, 2015 a six-month suspended prison sentence and put on probation for two years, detailed the prosecutor. Then, on February 22, 2017, the Périgueux court again sentenced him to a six-month suspended sentence, a sentence accompanied by compulsory care. Seven months later, on September 11, 2017, the same court sentenced him for immediate appearance to one year in prison with a warrant of committal.
Finally, for acts committed in January 2020, the same court sentenced him on February 19 in immediate appearance to 16 months in prison, eight of which were suspended and probated, but without being kept in detention even though he had spent a few weeks. in pre-trial detention, the time to prepare his defense. On May 3, his sentence of eight months firm is arranged with the obligation to wear an electronic bracelet and not to approach his ex-partner, mother of his three children.
The police will still carry out observations in the small town for the needs of the investigation, before life resumes its normal course.
