Most Germans dream of working less. That is quite possible – if politics, trade unions and companies help together

So far, Germans have known Belgium primarily for its French fries, comics and EU bureaucrats. Now the neighboring country is introducing a four-day week – and the Germans are enthusiastic. A large majority want to reduce the working days, according to a survey. This expresses a deep longing for a better work-life balance. It would be nice if, with political help, similar models could also spread to us – but with consideration for the fact that companies cannot do everything.
