The embers could well set the stage ablaze this Thursday, April 25 during the second edition of the musical awards ceremony “ THE Flames “. Initiated by the media Yard and Booska P, this event celebrates “the actors of French-speaking popular culture” and sets itself an even greater challenge this year: “to have an even stronger impact than the previous year”.
All the spotlights will be on this ceremony which will see renowned artists such as Aya Nakamura, the most listened to French-speaking singer in the world, as well as Jungeli, at the top of the Spotify France rankings for several weeks with her single “Petit Génie “.
In search of becoming the ceremony highlighting the great forgotten ones of award ceremonies such as the Victoires de la Musique, NRJ Music Awards, and others, the Flammes aroused strong reactions during their first successful edition but criticized for its lack of atmosphere. We interviewed Hamad, co-producer of Les Flammes, to find out if this year, good humor will be present at this music ceremony which honors rap, pop, RnB, as well as African and Caribbean music.
An audience at the meeting
Shay, Dinos, Tiakola, Kalash: these names shook the track in front of a frozen audience, such is the memory that remains of last year among many viewers who attended the ceremony from home. “In real life, it was on fire, but it’s true that if you watched it on your screen, it wasn’t great, it’s because we had a microphone problem in the room,” admits The organizer determined to rectify the situation this year with well-placed quality equipment. “This year, the shows will be even more ambitious,” he rejoices.
At the Théâtre du Châtelet, 24 prizes will be awarded, honoring stars from the shadows as well as those already in the spotlight. Album of the year, stage revelation, genius composer: everything goes well. An explosive evening in perspective, with 15 performances in front of an audience bringing together all the players in the popular music scene.
“There is hope that the enthusiasm of the first edition will be confirmed for the second,” confides Hamad to 20 Minutes, satisfied to see the number of public votes doubled to nominate the nominated artists. Going from 135,000 participants last year to 300,000 this year, the votes will be supported by a jury of experts to choose the big winners.
The Flame on all fronts
Nordine Ganso, Sally, Hamza Pvris, Deborah (@skuluch), Newin Bokhari: comedians, journalists and influencers will don their presenter costumes to ensure the atmosphere from the red carpet to the stage, alongside Driver MC. This year, the ceremony aims to attract a large audience with a live broadcast on two Twitch channels in addition to prime time broadcast on W9 and on the YouTube channel of Booska P, the media behind the event. “We hope to reach even more people than before and achieve good audiences. This is what will allow us to consolidate the event and make it a real long-term institution,” concludes Hamad, co-producer of the event.
With increased participation in the nomination vote, more extravagant performances, and a wide variety of hosts and broadcast channels, the second edition of the Flames is giving itself the means to be more flamboyant this year.
