A taste after years of waiting. The first official images of the next Grand Theft AutoOr GTA, will be revealed at the beginning of December, the Rockstar Games studio announced on Wednesday in a message from its founder. The existence of this future part, which does not yet have a name or release date, was confirmed in early 2022, before stolen images leaked on the Internet a few months later.
Cash machine as popular as it is criticized for its violence, Grand Theft Auto allows players, since the very first episode in 1997, to play as criminals in cities resembling New York, San Francisco, Miami or more recently Los Angeles (Los Santos in the game).
Video games, a profitable business
“We are very happy to announce that, at the beginning of December, we will broadcast the first video of the next Grand Theft Auto », writes Sam Houser in this message posted on the studio’s website, which will also celebrate its 25th anniversary. This presentation is a major challenge for Rockstar Games, while the latest opus, GTA V released in 2013, has exceeded 185 million copies sold since its launch and generated some $8 billion in revenue.
In total, the series, with more than ten episodes without counting reissues and compilations, has exceeded 405 million titles sold. A sign of the enthusiasm it arouses, the announcement of this first video caused the title of publisher Take-Two, parent company of Rockstar Games, to jump on Wall Street: at 3:45 p.m. (2:45 p.m. GMT), it took almost 8% to $146.90 in a very slightly rising market.
