The firefighters managed this Monday afternoon to control the fire in the Var which devastated more than 7,000 hectares of scrubland and forest and caused the death of two people on the heights of Saint-Tropez.
“The fire is under control in its current envelope thanks to the work of the teams on the ground”, announced the firefighters in their situation update at 4 pm. A retardant barrier formed by firefighters and reinforced by airdrops has been established. Some 400 firefighters will remain mobilized for several days to finally extinguish this sinister fire.
