The Final Chapter: Nicholas Ofczarek on the new season of “The Passport” – Media

It’s getting personal: Nicholas Ofczarek on the third, final season of the Sky series “Der Pass”, in which the secret of his character, Captain Gedeon Winter, comes to light.

The murder cases are as scary as ever, the mountain forest is just as grim and yet this is the third season, which is declared to be the last of the great series The passport, completely different. The investigators Ellie Stocker (Julia Jentsch) from Germany and Gedeon Winter from Austria – both professionals and other people have long been inaccessible – have become opponents, so season two ended. And even though Winter can’t remember the bullet from the gunshots he survived in a really steep cliffhanger to part two, there’s something in his head that won’t go away. The showrunners of the final season are no longer the series creators Cyril Boss and Philipp Stennert (they are currently working on the Constantin megaseries hagen busy), Christopher Schier (The Ibiza Affair). Together with co-director Thomas W. Kiennast and co-authors Senad Halilbasic and Robert Buchschwenter, Schier tells the story of Stocker and Winter to the end and, despite being faithful to the original, strikes a different and sometimes almost hypnotic tone. A centuries-old legend somehow resonates with the images that emerge more and more clearly in Gereon Winter’s memory. It becomes personal, with great unstoppability and consistency. And this time it’s summer: As sometimes at the end of something, it gets strangely light. The conversation with Ofczarek takes place shortly before the start of the series in the rococo salon of a Munich hotel.
