The feature film “Loto” opens the Georgian Film Days in Munich – Munich

When it comes to cinema, almost everything in the coming days revolves around the Munich Film Festival. However, it is not the only film festival in the city: the Georgian Film Days also take place at the same time, and the workshop cinema shows films from the small state in the South Caucasus for three days. The program includes seven feature films and documentaries, and the makers and protagonists of the films are expected at some screenings.

This national film show will open on Thursday, June 22, in the Film Museum: The feature film “Loto” will be shown, which was shot in Batumi, a scientific, university and port city on the Black Sea. In an apartment complex, a wide variety of people meet, for example a musician with an electric guitar, teenagers in love, a violinist in a mid-life crisis or a recently returned criminal. They are bizarre everyday observations, each of the characters has their secrets and dreams.

The film is presented by Tamta Khalvashi, who completed her father’s work: Zaza Khalvashi was a university professor, writer and filmmaker, “Loto” was to be his last film, he died in 2020 at the age of 62. His daughter took care of the completion, this film shot in elegant black and white images celebrated its premiere earlier this year at the festival in Rotterdam. In addition to Tamta Khalvashi, the late director’s wife, Nino Papunidze, is also expected in Munich.
