The FBI raided the home of former Kraken CEO Jesse Powell back in March. as part of an investigation into allegations that he had hacked and ‘Cyber-Stalking,’ a non-profit art collective, according to The New York report. Times

Representatives from the FBI and the US Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of California have been investigating Powell since at least last fall. The nonprofit accused Powell of tampering with the company’s computer accounts. This included blocking access to email and other messages, according to a person knowledgeable in the matter who spoke to The New York Times.

Authorities searched Powell’s home in Brentwood, a neighborhood in Los Angeles, and seized electronic devices. Prosecutors have not charged Powell with any crimes.

Powell, co-founder of the Kraken exchange, stepped down as CEO late last year. and continues to hold the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors

A Kraken spokeswoman told the New York Times the investigation had nothing to do with the company. And there’s no reason to believe that prosecutors are looking into other potential issues.
