The extended perimeter, after two nights of research

The search continues with intensity, two days after his disappearance. The perimeter was extended on Monday to find Emile, a two-and-a-half-year-old child who disappeared after escaping the vigilance of his grandparents on Saturday, in Vernet, a village in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, according to the mayor of the town.

The search resumed at 6 a.m. on Monday, said the gendarmerie, which mobilized around sixty soldiers, a helicopter and a Saint-Hubert dog, with a very developed sense of smell. The little boy was playing in the garden of his grandparents’ house, in this village of 125 inhabitants, when he disappeared on Saturday around 6 p.m., in a steep area. The grandparents reside precisely in the hamlet of Haut-Vernet, 25 inhabitants, more than a kilometer from the village itself.

Several hundred volunteers mobilized

According to initial elements emerging from two testimonies, the child left “the place of residence of his grandparents” and was seen “in a downhill street by two people. This is where we then lose track of him, ”said the public prosecutor of Digne-les-Bains Rémy Avon on Sunday during a press conference at Vernet.

On Monday, the Departmental Federation of Hunters called for the mobilization of all hunters and the mayor once again expects a large mobilization of volunteers. They were 100 to 200 over the weekend.
