The euro continues to plunge, the Alpilles on fire and naturopathy in Doctolib’s sights

Did you miss the news this early morning? We’ve put together a recap to help you see things more clearly.

The tumble of the single European currency continues. The euro plunged Monday below parity with the dollar, the lowest in nearly 20 years, caught between a major energy crisis in Europe and, in the United States, a Fed still on the offensive to curb inflation. Around 8:15 p.m., the euro lost 1.05% to 0.9932 dollars, the lowest since December 2002. The single currency had already fallen below parity for the first time in mid-July. Above all, the current uncertainties do not make it possible to properly anticipate the evolution of prices. Some analysts see the euro slipping even more as the cold season arrives, notably Nomura, which evokes the single currency at 0.95 dollars by October, or even below. But for Shaun Obsorne, of Scotiabank, “the dollar has already gone very high and we are not convinced that it will go much further in the medium term”.

The Bouches-du-Rhône are once again under fire. Monday, shortly before 4 p.m., a forest fire broke out in the town of Aureille in the Alpilles massif. The fire in the Alpilles massif “is no longer evolving” but is not yet completely fixed, the firefighters indicated on Tuesday. They even reassessed the area covered by the fire at 117 hectares of vegetation, against 136 hectares announced the previous evening. Today, the massif will remain closed in the face of the risk of forest fire (red vigilance) and 250 firefighters will remain mobilized for “the securing of the edges and the treatment of hot spots” of this fire which did not threaten any dwelling. . They will be supported by three aerial means to reach a steep relief.

Doctolib cleans up. The group, a French heavyweight in making medical appointments, suspended 17 profiles on Monday and began “substantive work”, after virulent criticism and a major alert aimed at the presence on the platform of naturopaths, an unfounded discipline medical. Doctolib also plans to engage in “substantive work” with the site’s medical committee, the orders and health professionals. “Measures will be taken soon. Several options are on the table, we are not ruling anything out,” the platform warned.
