Ethereum Core Developer Tim Beiko announced that The Shapella Upgrade is scheduled for February 28th :7j’Shalla Network Upgrade will be enabled on the Sepolia Network at epoch 56832.
Shanghai and Capella (Shapella) are the upcoming Ethereum hard forks. Shanghai is the client-side fork of the execution layer, and Capella is the consensus layer client-side upgrade.
The upcoming upgrade will allow validators to withdraw Ether (stETH) stakes from the Beacon Chain to the execution layer. The upgrade will bring changes in both the execution layer and the consensus layer to add new features and make it a significant upgrade after the Merge.
However, stakers and node operators will need to upgrade their nodes to the latest version of the Ethereum client. To take advantage of the Sepolia upgrade, and after the Sepolia upgrade deployment, the next step is to roll out the Shanghai upgrade. on the Ethereum Goerli test network, which is expected to start in March.
