The epidemic decreases in France and ends in eight regions

Despite the pollen and thanks to the good temperatures, our lungs find air and breath. Not easy after two years of Covid-19 and a flu epidemic late this year. The latter has been declining for several weeks and is calming down everywhere, indicates the public health agency. The past week has been marked by the “continued decrease in influenza indicators at national and regional level”, summarized Public Health France in its weekly report.

Eight regions or territories enter the “post-epidemic” phase which marks the end of the epidemic itself: Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Brittany, Centre-Val-de-Loire, Guyana, Grand- East, Hauts-de-France, Normandy and Pays-de-la-Loire. Some regions, such as Île-de-France, however, remain affected by the epidemic and it continues to threaten two overseas territories: Mayotte and Réunion, which are in the so-called pre-epidemic phase. However, the indicators are down in these territories, particularly in Reunion.

As the flu is still circulating alongside Covid-19, Public Health France reaffirms the importance of barrier gestures and vaccination, especially for those most at risk, the elderly in mind.
