The entrance to Montcul has once again disappeared

Nothing announces the entry of Montcul since the month of June… The sign of this hamlet located in the commune of Colombier-Saugnieu, near Lyon, has again disappeared. It is regularly stolen due to its burlesque naming.

Asked by ProgressMayor Pierre Marmonier assures that “every year or so, for 67 years [qu’il vit] here”, this signage is unbolted, even “cut out with a grinder”. He no longer knows what to do to avoid thefts. His assistant in charge of roads, Georges Viscogliosi, believes with BFM TV, that the sign must be replaced “two or three times a year”. Moreover, it is always the same one that is stolen, on the road to Crémieu.

Between 120 and 150 euros to replace the Montcul panel

And these damages have a cost. Not “the skin of the buttocks” but between 120 and 150 euros, depending on the municipality, for this small black panel, type E31, black which allows you to locate a locality or a hamlet.

Costs “marginal and not dramatic” according to the mayor who would still prefer “to spend this money otherwise”. “Some people have to make a collection, that’s all I see…”, he concludes.
