The end of Isar 2 is a gift for the CSU – Bavaria

With the shutdown of the last Bavarian nuclear power plant, the federal government wants to pacify the fundis among the Greens, even if it discredits the energy transition. The CSU, however, can look forward to the campaign help with which it can distract from its own failure.

According to a Forsa survey, 68 percent of Germans currently reject phasing out nuclear energy. Even the Greens are divided on this issue: at least 35 percent of their supporters support the continued operation of the three remaining plants or even the reactivation of decommissioned power plants. Nevertheless, the last nuclear reactor in Bavaria will also be shut down at the weekend: Isar 2 produced twelve percent of the electricity in Bavaria, reliably day and night for decades. Not anymore.
