The Eiffel Tower, emblematic monument chosen for the rings of the Games

The Louvre, Notre-Dame, Montmartre, the Arc de Triomphe… Paris has no shortage of emblematic historical monuments. It was ultimately the Eiffel Tower which was selected to represent the capital during the Olympic Games this summer.

The rings of the five colors, one for each continent, will sit on the Iron Lady this spring, the monument operating company (Sete) and the Paris-2024 organizing committee told AFP on Monday, confirming information from Parisian.

The Olympic cauldron at the Tuileries

These symbols of the universality of sport will be installed high up, on the Seine side, said Jean-François Martins, president of Sete. The Olympic rings will thus be at the forefront of the opening ceremony, organized in a unique way outside the stadium, in the form of a nautical parade on the Seine. In total, 180 boats, 94 of which will transport the athletes, will parade between the Pont d’Austerlitz and the Pont d’Iéna.

The Olympic cauldron which will host the Olympic flame will be installed in the Jardin des Tuileries, a park accessible to the public located between the Louvre Palace and Place de la Concorde.

At each edition of the Games, they are exhibited on an emblematic monument of the host city. Around 7 million people come to visit the Eiffel Tower each year, a showcase of Paris and France in the eyes of the world.
