The Dutch association is apparently courting Pep Guardiola as a bond coach

Oranje apparently wants Pep Guardiola as future bond coach. And the Spaniard has a special relationship with the Netherlands.
The Dutch association KNVB is apparently trying to hire Pep Guardiola. Like the english one Mirror reported, Guardiola is to become Elftal’s bond coach in the near future. The association had already tried to win over the Spaniard before Guardiola’s contract was extended at Manchester City.
His current contract with the Skyblues runs until June 2023. Last summer, the 51-year-old had already announced that he would then leave the Citizens. “After seven years with this team, I think I’ll make a cut,” he said in August.
Guardiola has been coaching Man City since 2016, since then he has won the English championship three times. However, Guardiola has not yet been able to achieve the triumph in the Champions League that the Arab owners have been longing for; last May he lost to Chelsea in the final.
The former Bayern coach had repeatedly stated that he wanted to take over a national team again during his career. According to Mirror Guardiola has a special fondness for the Netherlands as he is a big supporter of icon Johan Cruyff.
Because of Cruyff: Guardiola’s soft spot for the Netherlands
Guardiola admires the kind of football that Cruyff once showed himself on the field and later introduced as a coach at FC Barcelona, among others. The Spaniard won the European Cup as a player under Cruyff in 1992. Guardiola’s tiki-taka football, which made the Catalans the dominant force in Europe between 2008 and 2012, is based on Cruyff’s ideas.
The current bond coach for the Netherlands is Louis van Gaal, who took over from the dismissed Frank de Boer after the disappointing European Championship. The 70-year-old’s contract runs until after the World Cup in Qatar. Oranje had already made the qualification for the tournament perfect under van Gaal.
